About MSMAFF

Good education is the only inheritance that can never be taken away from you.

~ Maximo Sr. and Mercedes Anasco

History

The Maximo Sr. and Mercedes Anasco Family Foundation (foundation) was established in June 2021 with the intent of operating as a “private operating foundation.” Borne out of their desire to honor their parents’ legacy, the living children of the late Maximo Sr. and Mercedes Anasco, led by Maximo Jr. agreed to start a family foundation to collectively combine and donate their efforts and resources to various charitable causes. One of the primary objectives of this foundation is to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged, indigent students seeking higher education, through financial aid or scholarships.

Maximo Esguerra Anasco was born on December 27, 1907, to a poor family in a small town in Pangasinan, Philippines. Despite the family’s economic struggles, it did not deter Maximo and his older brother from obtaining education. His passion for education was what inspired him to become a teacher, and later promoted to a school principal, then to a district school supervisor. Education and the furtherance of knowledge would become the hallmark of his teachings, along with his wife Mercedes, that they both imparted to their ten children. Their mantra “Good education is the only inheritance that can never be taken away from you". Through hard work and a few land possessions they inherited from their parents, they managed to send all ten children to college. They also taught their children the value of giving and helping those less fortunate; an attribute that their children strive to do through the years.

Who we are

The Maximo Sr. and Mercedes Anasco Family Foundation was created to honor the legacy of Maximo Sr. and Mercedes, tying the name to good deeds and causes that are near and dear to them, such as helping the poor and underprivileged students pursue higher education; or extending assistance to teachers and their schools in educating the children; rendering help to depressed communities in need, especially to the victims of calamities/natural disasters.

At inception, the members are the living children of Maximo Sr. and Mercedes Anasco and their lineage. Currently, the foundation is solely operated by the board and family council, who are members of the Anasco clan apart from a couple of committee members and occasional unpaid volunteers in the Philippines. The foundation has no “paying” members and no “membership” fees are required for anyone to participate in the foundation’s activities.
